Drogheda United are thrilled to announce that Warren Davis has signed a two-year deal with the club.
Davis joined Kevin Doherty’s side ahead of the 2023 season from St. Joseph’s Boys.
The 18-year-old attacker made 22 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring twice.
The first of those goals was in a Leinster Senior Cup tie against Usher Celtic before the teenager netted his first league goal in the 2-1 win away to St. Patrick’s Athletic in September.
“It’s a privilege to sign back. My teammates really settled me in and the fans were amazing here last season. It felt like home as soon as I joined the club so I’m delighted.
“My teammates, the manager and all the staff here, they really helped me settle in and make the transition to first team football. They believed in me and believed I could make a difference when I came on the pitch,” Davis explained.
Kevin Doherty also expressed his delight about Davis’ new deal with the club.
“I’m over the moon to have Warren sign for us on a two-year-deal. He’s a really exciting player. He came in last year, made a lot of appearances, and played in a variety of positions.
“He had interest last year from other clubs that other young lads might have been swayed by but Warren knew he would get chances with us, and he did.
“He’s versatile and has done really well for us no matter where he plays. I think he will kick on now. It’s a big season for him next year.
“He’s a great kid, I love having him in the group, he’s always smiling, always brings a great energy to the group and he has seriously good potential. He’s the type of player we want to have at the club,” Doherty explained.
