Tiarnan Mulvenna appointed as first team coach

Drogheda United are pleased to announce that Tiarnan Mulvenna has joined the club as first team coach.

Mulvenna returns to the club having previously had two spells in claret and blue as a player, firstly from 2011 to 2012 and later in the 2015 season.

The former striker has spent the last number of seasons coaching in Dundalk’s academy, having coached the U15, U17 and most recently the U19 side in Oriel Park.

“I’m delighted to be back. I’m excited to have the opportunity. I’ve played with Adam Foley and Ryan Brennan, and played against Daire Doyle, so there’s plenty of familiar faces too.

“I’ve done the last seven years coaching at Dundalk, working my way up. Now is a chance to step up to the next level and see how I get on, so I’m excited to have the opportunity,” Mulvenna said.

Manager Kevin Doherty is also pleased to have added Mulvenna to his coaching staff.

“Tiarnan has done some brilliant work over the last number of years at Dundalk, there’s a lot of good young players he’s worked with but it’s great to have him back here. I think freshening up that little bit helps, and Tiarnan will add to us.

He has a good connection with the club, just like Daire Doyle does. We’ve a new physio Keith Browne coming in as well, along with the same staff as last year in Aaron, Luke and Conor.”
