Drogheda United are delighted to announce the signing of forward Thomas Oluwa from Wexford FC.
Oluwa came through the Shamrock Rovers academy, making appearances and scoring for both the first team and Shamrock Rovers II.
Spells with Bohemians, Galway, Larne, Athlone and Waterford followed, before he joined Wexford on loan for the second half of the 2023 season, in a deal that would become permanent for the 2024 season.
The 23-year-old made 58 appearances in his 18 month spell with Wexford, scoring 22 goals, including 15 in all competitions during the 2024 season.
Oluwa is the fourth new signing made by Kevin Doherty, following the announcements of Jack Brady, Conor Keeley and Kieran Cruise.
“I’m delighted to get it over the line. Speaking to Kev, hearing the ambitions the club have, stepping back into full time football, it was a no brainer.
“You have more time on the pitch. Part time, you’re in during the evenings, feel like you don’t have enough time to recover, but being in full time makes you feel like a proper footballer too.
Oluwa played against Drogheda in 2024, in the Sports Direct Men’s FAI Cup Semi-Final, and was instrumental for the visitors on the day, setting up both goals for Wexford.
“That was a tough game but it was a great atmosphere and environment to play in last season, and I’m looking forward to being in home colours now,” Oluwa said.
