Theo Hennessy signs first professional contract

Goalkeeper Theo Hennessy has committed his future to the club after signing his first professional contract this week.

“At Drogheda we are looking to identify potential and integrate our talented academy players into the first team. Theo is a fantastic young player with a fantastic attitude, and all the attributes to be a top goalkeeper.

“He has earned this opportunity and we look forward to seeing his continued growth and development,” said Academy Director John Donohue.

The 17-year-old joined the club in 2023, and has played for both our Men’s U17 and U20 teams across the last two seasons, while also training with the first team in 2024.

“With the appointment of John Donohue, the link between our first team & academy is really strong.

“Producing players from our academy is something we are really focused on. Theo trained a lot with the first team this season & showed real potential & we are delighted to give him this opportunity to fulfil his potential,” manager Kevin Doherty explained.
