Drogheda United are delighted to announce that Ryan O’Shea has signed a new deal with the club.
O’Shea is the ninth player to be announced from Tim Clancy’s 2021 Premier Division squad.
Ryan first played for Drogheda’s U17 side in 2016 and 2017 before rejoining the club at U19 level in 2019 after a spell with St. Patrick’s Athletic.
Alongside featuring for the club’s U19 side in 2019, Ryan also made his first team debut, scoring twice.
The first came in a 4-1 win in the league away to Limerick, which was quickly followed up by scoring the winner in an FAI Cup tie in United Park against Avondale United.
The versatile left-back, who can also play in midfield and on the wing, again played for both the U19 and senior side, will now be entering his third year in Tim Clancy’s senior side since making his debut.
“Tim and Kev have had a big influence on my decision to sign back, over the last two seasons they’ve been great to me coming into the squad and I’m hoping that will continue into next season. And it’s a great bunch of lads to play with as well, that always helps,” O’Shea explained.
“It’s also a good opportunity for us this season to show as a team how good we can be against the best teams in the country.
“Personally my first league start was massive for me. And the obvious one was winning the league, an unbelievable feeling for the whole team who worked hard all year long.”
