Owen Lambe signs for Drogheda United

Drogheda United are delighted to announce the signing of defender Owen Lambe from USL Championship side Orange County SC.

Lambe joins DUFC after making 64 appearances across two seasons for Orange County helping them reach the Conference Semi-Finals in both 2023 and 2024.

Prior to joining Orange County, Lambe made 61 appearances across two seasons with LA Galaxy II in the USL Championship, while also making one appearance for the LA Galaxy first team, scoring in a 3-2 US Open Cup win against California United Strikers FC.

Over the last four years Lambe has made a total of 126 professional appearances across all competitions with 5 goals and 17 assists.

Prior to making his professional debut with LA Galaxy II, Lambe played one collegiate season at California State Fullerton and saw action in 19 matches in 2019. He tallied two match-winning goals and an assist for the Titans in his lone season and was named to the Big West Conference All-Freshman team.

Lambe is an Irish passport holder and joined the team for training this morning for the first time.

“Owen is a really exciting right sided defender. He can play right-back, right wing-back, and a number of other positions. He’s very versatile, but was predominantly a right-back at Orange County,” explained manager Kevin Doherty.

“He arrived in Ireland at the weekend, and trained with us for the first time this morning.

“We’ve been watching him for a while now. He played every minute of every game in the USL Championship last year, which is a really high standard. He’s a great fella too, and he really wanted to make the move when I spoke to him.

“With Owen signing, it means we have serious competition in every position which is what I’ve been looking for,” Doherty said.
