Drogheda United are delighted to announce that Mark Doyle has signed a new deal with the club.
Doyle is the third player announced as part of Tim Clancy’s 2021 Premier Division squad.
The 2020 Drogheda United Fans Player of the Year has made 108 appearances for the club, scoring 37 goals.
The 21-year-old winger scored 13 goals in 18 league games in 2020, matching his tally for the 2019 season in a shortened season.
Doyle will be entering his sixth season with the senior squad, having also played for the club’s underage sides prior to his senior debut in 2016.
“I wanted to sign back because we’ve worked so hard for three seasons now trying to get out of the First Division.
“We fell at the last hurdle last season so we were determined to get up this year and win the title and now I’m dying to get going again in the Premier,” Doyle explained.
“I think it’s very difficult to tell how we will do but I know for certain that Tim and Kev will have us as prepared as possible for every game and hopefully we can surprise a few people.
“Personally I just want to continue contributing to the team with as many goals and assists as possible and continue to improve as I feel I have each season.”
“Absolutely hoping we can get the fans back. It’s awful without them to be honest and we missed them last season.
“I can only imagine what United Park would have been like in the last few games during the run in. If we can get them back next year it’d be quality,” Doyle said.
