Jordan Adeyemo Signs New Deal For 2021

Drogheda United are delighted to announce that Jordan Adeyemo has signed a new deal with the club.

Adeyemo is the eleventh player to be announced from Tim Clancy’s 2021 Premier Division squad.

The forward first signed for Drogheda in 2018 from Shelbourne and largely played for the U19 side but also made five appearances for the first team.

2019 saw Jordan win the U19 Player of the Year award, scoring 18 goals for the U19s as they reached the National League semi-finals.

Jordan also made a further 12 appearances for the senior side and scored his first of two senior goals that season in a 3-0 win over Galway in May 2019.

Adeyemo re-signed again in 2020 and scored twice in eight appearances, in a 5-1 win against UCD, and a 1-1 draw against Longford before being ruled out for the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery to remove his appendix.

“I have been with Drogheda now the last 3 years. I’ve enjoyed it and feel I’ve improved as a player under Tim and Kev.

“They’ve helped me a lot throughout the years and I’m happy to be here again for the new season,” Adeyemo said.

“It’s a great achievement winning the league. I believe we deserved it, it was such a tight season, our last game has to be the best for me. We knew what was on the line and we gave everything and got the reward.

“It shows how important every game is, every point gained and lost made the difference in us winning the league which at the end of the day was one point, but that’s just all the hard work we put in from the start of the season till the end.

“The main aim for anyone going up should be to stay and I think that will be our aim too. I’m buzzing to get started again and to play and show what I’m capable of.

“It’s going to be a whole different level, teams will be fitter, and more experienced so that will be a challenge for all of us and I think we can stick out this challenge with the strong squad we have.”
