Drogheda United are delighted to announce the signing of defender Joe Redmond.

Redmond joins Drogheda after a five-year stay at Birmingham City. The 21-year-old centre-half joined Birmingham in 2016, featuring for Birmingham’s U18 side that reached the FA Youth Cup semi finals in the 2017/18, while also making nine appearances for the U23 side.

The Ireland youth international made the step up to the Development Squad in 2018/19 as Birmingham’s U23 side finished runners-up in the Professional Development League North and the end-of-season Play-Offs.

Redmond continued to progress and ahead of the 2020 season, joined Cork City on loan until the end of June. However, Birmingham recalled the defender in May and Redmond went on to captain the Blues U23 side to the Professional Development League title, with a 2-0 win over Sheffield United in the final.
