Hubert Murphy to depart role

It’s with bittersweet feelings Drogheda United announces that Hubert Murphy will be transitioning from his role as General Manager of Drogheda United to assume the position of CEO at Drogheda Chamber of Commerce. Hubert has played a pivotal role in the ongoing development of Drogheda United over the past 30 months. His unwavering dedication to the club, its supporters, and the wider community has been truly commendable, and we extend our heartfelt wishes for success in his new position.

Wesley Hill, Executive Director of Drogheda United, shared, “Hubert has been an absolute pleasure to collaborate with since Trivela joined forces with the club. I am deeply grateful for his invaluable support, both personally and professionally. While we are naturally saddened by Hubert’s departure from his full-time role within the club, we have no doubt that he will continue to champion Drogheda United in his new capacity. As a lifelong fan, Hubert will always find a warm welcome on the terraces at every match.”

Reflecting on his time as General Manager, Hubert expressed, “Serving as the General Manager of my hometown club has been a dream come true, and I have relished every moment. I hope that I have played a part in shaping a significant chapter in the club’s history, and I eagerly anticipate witnessing its continued growth and success.”

Joint Chairperson Joanna Byrne added, “Hubert’s steadfast leadership has been instrumental in guiding the club through challenging periods, and we are ever grateful for his unwavering dedication and consistency to Drogheda United.”

Additionally, Wesley Hill will be relocating from Austin, Texas, to Ireland for an extended period this summer. Upon Hubert’s departure, his managerial responsibilities will be assumed by Wesley, while plans regarding the future structure of the club’s front office are finalized. During this time, Wesley will collaborate with the Drogheda United team to refine the club’s operational framework, as we embark on further growth both on and off the pitch.
