Gary Deegan signs new deal for 2023

Drogheda United are delighted to announce that midfielder Gary Deegan has signed a new deal with the club for 2023.

Deegan has also been named as club captain by manager Kevin Doherty for the 2023 season.

The 35-year-old first joined Drogheda ahead of the 2021 Premier Division season from Shelbourne, having previously had spells with Kilkenny City, Longford Town, Galway United and Bohemians in Ireland. 

He then moved to the UK where he played with Coventry City, Hibernian, Northampton, Southend, Shrewsbury and Cambridge United.

Deegan has made 68 appearances to date for Drogheda, featuring 33 time in his first season in 2021 and making a further 35 appearances in all competitions in 2022.

He scored his first goal in claret and blue in March of this year, scoring the opening goal in a 4-2 win at home to UCD.
