Adam Foley Named MU20 Head Coach

Drogheda United can confirm that Adam Foley has been named the new head coach of our Men’s U20 side.

Foley, who holds a UEFA A Licence, scored 22 goals in his 97 appearances during his playing career with the club, was also previously the head coach of our Men’s U17 side in 2023.

Drogheda United would like to place on record their thanks to Gavin Fleming for his time and contribution to Drogheda United Academy. We would like to wish Gavin all the best as he continues his coaching journey.

Speaking of the appointment, Academy Director, John Donohue said:

“I’m delighted with the appointment of Adam. He has a great relationship with the club and most importantly, the first team staff.

“Along with all the structures we are slowly putting in place, this will help us close the gap, to get players through to play for our first team and beyond. Alongside the excellent coaches that are already in place, Adam will create an environment that replicates a first team dressing room.

“Adam wasn’t handed anything as a player, and that’s a big factor for this appointment. He knows how hard it is, what it takes and different ways to navigate that.”

New Head Coach of the Men’s U20’s, Adam Foley said:

“First and foremost, I am delighted to be back at the club. It’s a place that everyone knows I am very close to, and one that has given me so much.

“I was delighted to have been asked by Kevin and John to lead the development of our under 20’s into what will hopefully be professional football for them. We want to produce high level players for Drogheda United, and I hope I can play my part in the future of these players and the club.

“Knowing how Kevin and Daire work, and what is expected to be a player for Drogheda will be a challenge for the players I’m sure, but one that I will help and support them on to reach their potential,” Foley explained.
