Dylan Grimes signs new deal for 2023

Drogheda United are delighted to announce that midfielder Dylan Grimes has signed a new deal for 2023.

Grimes made 28 appearances in all competitions in 2022 in his first season with the club.

The 24-year-old played at underage level for Shelbourne before making the breakthrough to the senior side in 2015, when Drogs manager, Kevin Doherty, was manager of Shelbourne.

After a spell away from the League of Ireland playing with Sheriff YC, Grimes signed for Longford Town in 2019.

Grimes re-signed for Longford for both the 2020 and 2021 seasons under Daire Doyle, who had been Longford’s assistant in 2019 before manager Neale Fenn made the move to Cork City.

“I’m delighted to have extended my stay at Drogheda United. On a personal note, last season wasn’t the best for me. I had some injury setbacks and was fighting fitness most of the season.

“However, our goal was to stay in the division and it was a proud accomplishment in doing so.

“I’m training hard and I’ll be hoping to stay injury free to showcase my ability at this great club and help push us that one step further this year,”  Grimes said.
