Drogheda United are delighted to announce the signing of attacking midfielder Dylan Grimes from Longford Town.
The 23-year-old played at underage level for Shelbourne before making the breakthrough to the senior side in 2015, when now Drogs manager, Kevin Doherty, was manager of Shelbourne.
After a spell away from the League of Ireland playing with Sheriff YC, Grimes signed for Longford Town in 2019.
Grimes re-signed for Longford for both the 2020 and 2021 seasons under Daire Doyle, who had been Longford’s assistant in 2019 before manager Neale Fenn made the move to Cork City.
“It’s a move that I was very interested in, and I’m delighted it’s done. I have worked with both Kev and Daire before, we have a good relationship and I’m happy to be continuing that here at Drogheda United.”
“I’m looking forward to the 2022 season and hopefully I can contribute with goals and assists to help the team,” Grimes said.
