Douglas James-Taylor to join on loan

Drogheda United are delighted to announce the signing of forward Douglas James-Taylor on a one-year loan from Walsall FC, subject to international clearance.

James-Taylor will join the club officially when the transfer window opens on Monday, July 1.

The 22-year-old played at youth level with both Salford City and Stoke City. James-Taylor gained first team experience on loan from Stoke at Wealdstone and AFC Fylde, before joining Walsall on loan for the 2022/23 season.

The forward then signed with Walsall on a permanent deal prior to the 2023/24 season, and has made 63 appearances for the Saddlers.

“It’s a really good option for us to have across the frontline. He’s a player I know really well because I watch all of Walsall’s games, and I’ve had some really good conversations with him too.

“There was a spell in January where he played regularly and I was really impressed with his overall play and his athleticism. I think he’ll be a massive addition to us. He brings pace, power, and he knows where the back of the net is,” said manager Kevin Doherty.
