Darragh Markey signs new deal for 2023

Drogheda United are delighted to announce that Darragh Markey has signed a new deal for 2023.

The midfielder first joined the club ahead of the 2021 Premier Division season from St. Patrick’s Athletic, where he had been for seven seasons, from underage to senior level.

The 2021 season saw the midfielder play 36 times in both the league and FAI Cup, scoring three times.

His first goal for Drogheda came in the 7-0 win over Waterford in May 2021 while he also scored in important wins over Finn Harps and Longford in the same season.

Markey missed two months of the season in 2022 after suffering a fractured metatarsal away to Derry in March but went on to make a further 26 appearances for the club, scoring twice.

“I’m delighted to be back with the Drogs for the new season. The management, staff, and the fans make me feel wanted here and that is massive to me.

“It has led to me having some of the most enjoyable football of my career and for that reason I can’t wait to be back next season,” Markey said.
