Drogheda United are delighted to announce that Darragh Markey has signed a new deal for 2022.
The midfielder joined the club ahead of the 2021 Premier Division season from St. Patrick’s Athletic, where he had been for seven seasons, from underage to senior level.
The 2021 season saw the 24-year-old be a regular fixture throughout the season, playing 36 times in both the league and FAI Cup.
The 0-0 draw away to Finn Harps at the start of the November was the only game Markey did not feature in all season.
Markey netted his first goal for Drogheda in the 7-0 win over Waterford in May while his two other goals for the season came at home in important wins over Finn Harps in July (3-1) and Longford in October (2-0).
“I’m delighted to sign back with a great club and a great group. Last year was one of my most enjoyable years to date, and hopefully we can build on from the strong core we formed last year with the help from Kevin and his new management team,” Markey said.
