Drogheda United can confirm that goalkeeper Colin McCabe has departed the club.
McCabe made 47 appearances in his three year spell with the club, after joining from Shelbourne ahead of the 2021 season.
Colin made 6 appearances in his first season with the club, and a further 22 appearances in the 2022 season.
The 26-year-old re-signed for a third season ahead of the beginning of this season. He made a further 19 appearances, keeping five clean sheets in a season that included stand out performances in victories away to Shamrock Rovers and Derry City.
“Firstly I’d like to thank all the staff, board members, volunteers and everyone associated with the club during my time here.
“When I spoke to Kevin, we had an open and honest conversation but unfortunately I had to make a difficult decision. I never got the opportunity to thank the fans or say goodbye, so thanks to the wonderful fans who give the team so much support on a weekly basis.
“It was an honour to represent such a great club with great community values. I’ll be cheering on the lads with some massive games to come, and I look forward to watching a game from a different perspective in the near future. Up the Drogs!”, McCabe said.
Everyone at Drogheda United wishes Colin the very best in the future, and thanks him for his contribution during his three years with the club.
