Chairman’s Message to Supporters

As we get close to the start of games returning to United Park, we all must continue our efforts in the fight against Covid 19, which has challenged us all in our daily lives. I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the club, to acknowledge the work of our frontline workers, so close to our home at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda and at all our front-line points of service nationwide.

As the excitement grows for the return of football, the Board of Management have taken the decision in the interest of safety for players, management and staff to play all games for the foreseeable period behind closed doors, a date in which we may open for supporters will be reviewed next month and we will provide an update in due course. The capacity limitation of 200 at matches (including staff) means that only a small number of supporters could attend and with 600 season ticket holders, it would be impossible to be fair to everyone.

This measure will allow us to provide the very best in safety for players and staff and meet all social distancing requirements for everyone onsite as set out by Sport Ireland, the FAI and in Government Guidelines.

Our management team are currently working on an online Streaming Solution which we hope to have in place shortly. We will update all supporters in the coming days on this. Season Ticket Holders will get Free Access to all games on live stream once we have a system in place, with a pay-per-view service globally for anyone who would like to support the team from both near and far. We will also work with with our local media partners, LMFM and the Drogheda Independent, to provide the very best of coverage of all games. Also, our Social Media Team will be on site and have the latest action online as it happens and interviews before and after matches.

I would encourage everyone to check out our new club website which we have launched this week. We will also soon launch our new Drogheda United Advance Club, as we seek more members to “own” our club and play and active part in its development.

Finally, the Club Shop will re-open over the August Bank Holiday weekend at Scotch Hall Shopping Centre in Drogheda for our Summer Season Sale in conjunction with Umbro Ireland.

We would like to thank everyone for their continued support. The team are fit, enthusiastic and ready to give everything as we push for promotion. We hope that the national situation with regards to COVID will continue to improve and that we can welcome you into United Park before the end of the season.

Keep well,

Conor
