Drogheda United are delighted to announce that Bridel Bosakani has signed his first professional contract with the club.
Bosakani joined the club at U20 level ahead of the 2024 season from Sligo Rovers. He would go on to be an integral part of Gavin Fleming’s side, scoring 11 goals across the season for the league winning side, while also being named the EA Sports LOI Academy MU20 Player of the Year.
The 20-year-old also featured for the first team, scoring seven goals in his five senior appearances throughout 2024. His first two goals came on his debut, as a substitute away to Malahide United in the Leinster Senior Cup in February.
A hattrick followed on his FAI Cup debut against Wilton United, while he also scored in the Leinster Senior Cup Semi-Final against St. Mochta’s.
Bosakani’s seventh senior goal came against Shelbourne on his league debut, a goal that saw him win the LOI October Goal of the Month award.
“My first year with the club was amazing. Joining the academy with a great bunch of lads, winning the U20s league, and my transition from the academy to the first team winning the FAI Cup.
“My main goal after leaving Sligo, and home, was to sign for a team and to hopefully get a professional deal. It was always something I wanted to achieve, and Drogheda gave me the opportunity to express myself and showcase my talent, and that’s why I’ve so much love for the club.
“I’m very excited to push on now. Last season is gone, so I’m ready to start focusing on the year to come. It’s going to be another big season for us with Europe and the league. I’m ready to get going,” Bosakani said.
