Andrew Quinn signs for Drogheda United

Drogheda United are delighted to announce the signing of defender Andrew Quinn from Dundalk.

The defender spent the 2021 season on loan at First Division side Bray Wanderers.

Quinn had played for Dundalk’s underage sides before making his league debut against Shamrock Rovers in September 2020.

The 19-year-old made 27 appearances in his loan spell at Bray in 2021, scoring his first senior goal in a 2-2 draw away to Cork City in July.

2021 also saw Quinn, previously an Ireland schoolboys and U18 international, called into Tom Mohan’s U19 training camp in June before he was then named in Jim Crawford’s Ireland U21 squad for the game away to Montenegro.

“Kev got on to me at the end of the season. I had a few meetings and calls with him and he outlined his ambition for next year, and the club’s ambition. I liked it, I’m really looking forward to it now.”

“I really enjoyed it (loan at Bray), I got loads of minutes. I was really grateful to Bray for the opportunity to play with them for the season. I learned loads from the management and players there aswell,” Quinn explained.

Quinn is looking forward to playing Premier Division football in 2022, after previously making his league debut for Dundalk in the top flight in 2020.

“That was a big reason for myself. I want to improve as much as I can, and play in the Premier Division. Drogheda were the club that suited me really well and I’m looking forward to it,” Quinn said.
