Drogheda United is thrilled to announce the return of defender Andrew Quinn from Shelbourne, marking a pivotal addition to our defensive lineup.
Quinn rejoins the club after a stint under Kevin Doherty’s guidance in 2022, showcasing his talent in 32 appearances that season. Before donning the claret and blue, Quinn boasted experience with Dundalk and Bray Wanderers.
The 21-year-old, a former Ireland youth international, now boasts an impressive 80 senior appearances.
“I’m very happy to be back, I was delighted when Kevin gave me the call, so I can’t wait to get going now.
“I really enjoyed my time here two seasons ago, so I just want to get back to really enjoying it again.
“Even just driving up here today to sign, I was excited. I think I played my best football under Kevin so that was a big thing for me,” Quinn explained.
Quinn becomes the second addition to Kevin Doherty’s 2024 squad, following the signing of fellow centre-half Jack Keaney.
“Andy was brilliant for us, and I was sad to see him go but I’m delighted to have him back, he really progressed the year he was with us. He played a fair number of games as well at Shels, and was offered a new contract, so it’s great that he’s chosen to come to us.
“They (Quinn and Keaney) are two different types of centre-halfs, and certainly complement each other.
“Both have different attributes, but both are really good players, and two smashing lads as well. I would have spoken to Jack a good few times, even when you’re playing against him, I’ve always really liked him and Andy, we’ve a good relationship with Andy already,” manager Kevin Doherty explained.
