Adam Foley signs new deal 2024

Drogheda United is thrilled to confirm Adam Foley’s contract extension with the club.

Since joining from Finn Harps in 2022, Foley has made 57 appearances. He proved to be instrumental in Kevin Doherty’s team last season, netting nine goals in 33 appearances, finishing as top scorer for the season.

During a crucial period from June to July, Foley netted five goals in six league games, contributing significantly to the team’s success.

“I’m delighted to get it done. I’ve been speaking to Kevin for a while, waiting to figure out the situation with the takeover, but once the contract offer was there, it was signed straight away.

“I felt good last season. I made slight adjustments off the pitch to make sure I could maximise my performance on the pitch. I’ll be doing the same again, and hopefully I can contribute more goals and assists, helping the team as much as I can,” Foley explained.

Foley, a resident of the town, also coached our Men’s U17 side in the latter part of last season.

“I was at the club six days a week last year. It was quite demanding, but I’m going to be solely focusing on the playing side this year, aiming for another successful season, and see where that takes us.”

“I speak to the fans regularly around the town. Our season ticket sales have already surpassed last year’s numbers. I know everyone is excited for the season to begin, and so are we. We are itching to get back in and to build on last season’s success, and having a packed Weavers Park is always a great boost,” Foley expressed.

Manager Kevin Doherty also expressed his delight at Adam Foley’s new deal with the club, stating, “I’m delighted to have Adam signed for next season. He had an excellent season last season and ended up being our top scorer. He contributed massively, both on and off the pitch. His experience is vital in the group that we have.”
