Our Men’s U14 & U17 sides were both in action today, facing Shelbourne in a double header at the MDL Grounds.

MU14 vs Shelbourne

Drogheda United MU14s kicked off their season with a narrow loss to Shelbourne. The score line doesn’t reflect the tenacity of an excellent team performance where every player worked hard in supporting each other in every area of the pitch.

Drogheda United took the game to Shelbourne and created excellent chances which had Shelbourne scrambling to defend and on this occasion were able to hold back the pressure of Drogheda United in the final third of the game.

MU17 vs Shelbourne

Our MU17s played Shelbourne in the MDL this evening in their first game of the new season. A disappointing first half left the home team trailing 2-0 going in at the break.

The team reacted positively and put in a fine second half performance getting a goal back after 65 minutes, with Richard Nwosu getting the goal, assisted by Matthew McCloskey and the team had other opportunities to score.

The game ended 2-1 to Shelbourne but positives can be taken from the second half performance heading into their game away to Finn Harps next weekend!
