MU20 vs St. Patrick’s Athletic

Drogheda United under 20s, lost 2-1 to St Pats in TU Dublin Blanchardstown today. Drogheda took an early lead from Kieran Cruise’s corners which curled directly in and were well on top for the first 30 minutes of the game.

Pats equalised through a soft penalty after 20 minutes but the visitors were still the better of the two sides. Pats came into it just before half time but it was 1-1 at the break.

The home side took the lead on the hour mark and then as Drogheda went searching for an equaliser they could have been awarded a penalty for similar incident that went against them in the first half. Next up for Drogheda is the visit of Dundalk to DIFE on Saturday.

WU17 vs Dundalk

Drogheda United WU17 lost 3-2 at home to local rivals Dundalk. The girls went a goal down early in the game but fought back and went 2-1 up after 30min with goals from Katie Clarke and Caitlyn O Donohue. Dundalk equalised just before half time.

In the second half the girls played below the standard they’ve shown in previous games and Dundalk scored a penalty with 20min remaining.

The girls were disappointed with the result today and will look to put it right next week against Peamount.

MU15 vs St. Patrick’s Athletic

Drogheda MU15s were on the road again this week with a trip to top of the table St Pats. After a very even first half with both teams creating chances, Drogheda found themselves 1-0 down at halftime.

St. Pats came out the stronger in the 2nd half and scored their 2nd on the hour mark, followed by another 2 goals in the 63rd and 67th minute, which left an awful lot for Drogheda to try get back into the game.

Drogheda kept at it and still created chances in the final third but couldn’t break down a very good St. Pats defence. Pats scored another in 80 minutes to secure a 5-0 win. Tough one for the young men of Drogheda, but we go again with a home fixture against Dundalk next Saturday.
