Aaron McNally signs new deal for 2024

Drogheda United is delighted to announce that Aaron McNally has penned a new contract with the club.

McNally, who joined ahead of the 2023 season after returning from a spell in America where he played for Brazos Valley Cavalry F.C., exhibited his versatility last season. The 23-year-old showcased his adaptability by featuring in both defensive and wing positions across the campaign, making 23 appearances.

Among his contributions, McNally netted two crucial goals last season. His maiden goal for the club, a pivotal one, came during the 3-1 victory against Cork City in August.

“I’m over the moon, it was a no brainer after I spoke to Kevin. I’m already looking forward to next season.

“Last season was fantastic. After returning from America, I was somewhat in limbo. Once I spoke with Kevin and signed here, I thoroughly enjoyed the entire season.

“We achieved some incredible results, notably against Shamrock Rovers and Cork. Scoring against Cork was the highlight of my season!

“Our supporters were exceptional throughout the year, providing crucial support in numerous games; they were  our twelfth man. Being biased as a player, I genuinely believe they are the best fans in the league,” expressed McNally.

Manager Kevin Doherty highlighted McNally’s impact during crucial moments in the previous season.

“Aaron’s signing is a fantastic addition for the upcoming season. He had a remarkable year last season, displaying exceptional versatility and performing admirably in various positions.

“He contributed significantly during crucial junctures, such as his goal against Cork, a pivotal game for us at that time. I’m ready to have him back on-board next season.” Kevin Doherty explained.
